Welcome to Cherub Capers. I'm Alesha Churba, founder and curator. This shop is the culmination of a lifelong passion for enduring craftsmanship, thoughtful living, and the art of telling a good story.
An Educational & Technical Foundation
Before opening our doors full-time, I spent 17 rewarding years on the faculty at Idaho State University within the College of Technology. As a Clinical Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator, I taught Computer-Aided Design (CAD/CADD), mechanical and architectural drafting theory, estimation concepts, and design theory. My tenure in academia also included key administrative and management leadership, such as serving as Secretary for the College Executive Committee, guiding curriculum development, and mentoring students as they prepared for professional technical careers.
My background in technical design, architectural codes, and universal design directly shapes how I approach retail management. I don't believe in filling homes with disposable, mass-produced goods, nor do I believe in stuffy, hands-off antique stalls. Instead, I apply academic rigor, structured research, and technical precision to every piece brought into our collection.
The Evolution of Cherub Capers
What started in 2018 as a humble holiday pop-up shop on North Main Street quickly grew into a beloved local destination. In 2022, Cherub Capers found its permanent home in a historic flagship boutique located at 308 West Center Street in Historic Downtown Pocatello, Idaho.
